What’s the stone for?

The most asked question around the Whiteford Stoneco Community Park these days is, easily, what’s the big stone pile for?

The answer is pretty simple, actually. The Monroe County Road Commission is stockpiling the stone there to use on the upcoming repaving of Yankee Rd.

The pile was going to go on the paved parking lot off Sterns Rd. near US-23 before a fireworks dealership was erected on site. The road commission had to find a new site and, working with township officials, chose the park parking lot.

The lot will also be used in 2013 when Whiteford Rd. in repaved.
